Making the hexes completely uninhabitable is going to put the direct neighbors at a disadvantage. What if they were gearing up for some big battles at the end of the round that would take some of those hexes? And then suddenly they are off the table for the rest of the game?I think the bottom line is that when a player leaves the game it is going to screw up the balance no matter what. I'd rather follow one very simple rule than write a list of contingencies for something that should never happen in the first place.
There is a reason leaving before a game is over is one of the big board game no-nos :angry:
