Start: 26 Money, 4 Materials, 2 Science.
If no cool tech (such as Improved Hull) is available immediately
-2: Research Station (18 Money, 0 Materials, 14 Science).
-3: Mining Colony (13 Money, 12 Materials, 9 Science).
At this point, the next move might be something like:
-5 Advanced Robotics (13 Money, 12 Materials, 4 Science).
-5 (again, thanks Advanced Robotics) Explore Ring I.
Let's suppose you find a single-Ancient sector with an Orange planet.
-7 Build Dreadnought (13 Money, 4 Materials, 4 Science).
-10 Move Dread (13 Money, 4 Materials, 4 Science).
-13 Upgrade (PC and GS).
-17 Occupy hex
Upkeep: 13 Money + Money Production 4 = 17 Money.
If Improved Hull is available on turn 1, variable. You should start by taking that. That means a couple moves less (you also need to pay 3 Money for it). So no attacking Ancients on turn 1. So Explore ring 3 for Discoveries *before* developing Research Station and Mining Colony, because you might find a Science or Materials Discovery, that lets you do the same without trading Money in.
