Wait... doesn't Magellan get 1 VP for used resource discoveries? So you could have had +5 science and 1 VP and this was early, like round 1 or 2, but instead passed on that for 1 extra VP? I usually take +resource chips if it represents more than 1 round of production in that area, and pretty much take all resources given in round 1. With Magellan this would be even more so.
Side note, would you have taken Nano-bots as the free research? Or would you have taken the extra VP?
I totally agree on something like +5 science. I sort of like to commit myself to the first 2 tech tracks only when playing Magellan.
