New Bits:

o 4 New Aliens: Awesome

o Ancient Homeworlds: Great - especially in a 3p game. But those Cruisers and Dreadnoughts can be deadly.

o Hives: Good - However, one player can really benefit from this. I did because an adjacent hive moved a few ancient ships into my homeworld so I was able to get battle points without spending too many actions.

o Rare techs: Awesome

o New discoveries: Awesome. That morph shield is really nice, if you are the one that has it of course.

o Developments: Good - depends on which come out.

o Warp Points: Not sure... played with them but they didn't come out.

o Alliances: Not sure... only played 3p games with it.

o New tech board: Awesome, but you can make your own of course.

o Extra stuff to support nine players: I really can't see playing this with more than 6, but I do like the possibility.

o New Ship Parts: Great! But, didn't actually use one in our play.

o Galactic Center Takeover: Meh... seemed no harder to defeat than the CGDS.

Variants: (most of these you can do without the expansion)

o Direction of play: Excellent, will always use it.

o Predictable Tech: Excellent, will always use it.

o Small Galaxy: Meh... I'll pass on this one.

o Secret Homeworld: Good. Our random draw didn't include any though.

I suggest you d/l the expansion rules and read them. I'm sure after that you will know if you want to buy it (you will.)
