Having known Mike (at least in online form) for a number of years, I can assure you he's neither. He doesn't mince words, but speaks his mind without pulling punches, which may come off as abrasive to some, but it doesn't necessarily make his points any less valid.
He and I may have very different personalities, but "troll" and "mental berserker" are not phrases I would ever associate with him.
Well he started off with "I don't really like to post here because of how people respond" and then follows up with inflammatory posts to reasonable responses. *shrug*
I thought it was reasonable to point out how he posts might be why people react strongly to what he says, which just got me dumped on more (no worries, I can take it).
