It happens the same to me, I can't find a male faction as handsome as I am. Shame on Eclipse!

If this "faction picture" means something for your girlfriends then this game is definitely not for her anyway. Sorry.
Of course, you don't judge a game by it's art. It was just her first comments when looking at the game. I also don't like much the female characters, normally I choose female in priority. Associating them to a librarian and ghandi makes it worst. In fact machema is better looking than both female terrain.
And to be frank, I'm pleased that the female leaders aren't sex kittens -- it's not like the male leaders are lookers.
I don't expect to have female leaders in Bikini.
I could suggest 1 faction which could be a matriarchal government like for the Elarians in Master of Orion.
