but, almost nobody builds orbitals, and if they are, they usually aren't playing at the top of their game.
Seeking victory passively is better than making war. My record of victory points is 63 in 6 player game (second place had 52, most had near 30, last player -10)(Terran race). Nobody has ever came close to such amount of points by fighting with others. The player who avoids war with other players, fight with ancients for reputation and is left alone (by his own cunning and pretending to be nothing special) is always the winner. Concentrating on science is most often better than seeking reputation tokens. 15vp from techs will always beat rep tokens. Throw in some monoliths in turn 9 and player who was fighting all the time, searching for those 4vp rep tokens (that already were not in the bag) is left far behind...
