Just wanted to let you know that I ran this strategy in a 4-player game last week: pulled double ancients in my Ring I explore, built/moved/upgraded my dreads as described, and was the first to pass. I rolled the ancients and took the GC in turn 2 and held it the rest of the game. It was easy to hold the GC due to a strong alliance with my Orion neighbor who kept pounding the Mech guy across from me.

Good strategy and I don't think the other players really saw it coming, so I think I will be able to run it again this weekend.

Shawn,

Do you have images of the player boards for all the races? If so, could you email them to me?

Thanks

I'm glad it worked out, thanks for the report!

Lately I have been thinking that grabbing the GCDS at once is not necessarily the best of ideas. Usually it means everyone will gang up on you, and this *may* mean that you won't have the resources to occupy or explore enough ring II or III hexes. Good that you had Orion to back you up - I wonder how it would have turned out without him :)

Which Ancient Dreadnought did you have to fight in the middle? Do you remember what you attacked it with, and the blueprint?

It was just the GCDS, so I just went with that build for my dreads. If we play with 6 this week, I will really have to make sure I have good allies before I try this.

To the point made above, Orion ended up winning. I got second.
