I've only seen Rho Indi in one 3 player game and I almost won with them. When I beat down one of my opponents the other one was opportunistic and started pressuring me on the opposite side. Dealing with them both gave enough time for the original opponent to get Dreadnaughts with Improved Hull which proved VERY difficult for my Cruiser/Interceptor army to deal with. He ended up taking the middle and I couldn't sustain enough pressure on both to win.Are your opponents counter attacking you? Rho Indi is good but it's still very difficult to deal with a war on two fronts, especially if opponents upgrade their Dreadnaughts.
Edit - You also don't mention their negatives such as needing additional build points (their ships cost more) and only having 2 colony ships. This is a poor combination which makes you need to invest in build resources which either costs you science or money. Having a low science means you're going to struggle to keep up in the technology game which is a huge disadvantage.
