Played a 6 hour , 6 player game of Eclipse + Expansion.

Done.

No but really, it was a loooong game of Eclipse. Honestly though, I don't know where it went so long, all of us had played before. Whatever, onto the game itself.

So I was playing as the pirates (the ones who get $ for (#-1) victory tiles they draw in combat) and I was allied with the race that uses orbitals and gets cloaking for free. We all explored pretty quickly, and it ended up that there was a wormhole connecting me and yellow (whom I was not allied with). Now I wanted to move in on the center as I thought my ships were pretty badass (was running interceptors with Sentient hull + Plasma Cannon and Cruisers with 3x Sentient Hull + Plasma Cannon) but I was worried that Yellow would (and easily could) sweep through the wormhole and just take everything from me. So I made a decision I still feel bad about: I went through the wormhole and just crushed yellow, leaving him with one system that would just be more of an inconvenience for me to take out than anything else. Thankfully the player didn't take it personally, but I still felt really...iffy about it.

Well after that White had a ton of stuff on the middle, but me and my ally purple managed to take out White's armada. Unfortunately this whole time White and his ally Blue had built up a large wall of units in front of their main systems, and Blue got Monoliths. Needless to say they won, with me and my ally coming in second.

I think I'm getting to the point where I really like eclipse, but will never love it. I think it's a fun game, decently balanced (at least nothing outright broken) but it fails to really capture me anymore. I think I'm starting to prefer games that are less straightforward in their strategy and require more thinking and planning than Eclipse.
