Does anyone know what the grey symbols are on the ancient ships?

One cruiser has 1 hull, +2 computers, 2 initiative, 2 shields, 1 antimatter missile, 1 plasma cannon, and _1 grey missile_.

Another cruiser has 4 hull, +2 computers, 2 initiative, 2 ion cannons, and _1 grey cube, 1 grey star, 1 grey missile_.

One side of the ancient dreadnought has 5 hull, +2 computers, 3 initiative, 2 plasma cannons, and _1 grey X with a black star in the middle_.

I don't see anything in the manual, FAQ, or forums that address this. The other symbols are straightforward.
