Reply: Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients:: Rules:: Re: Point defense - I don't get it

by sur5al

So how about when successful missile hits greatly exceed in numbers the cannons that defender has and can fire?

For example: Attacker has 3 cruisers, each fires 6 missiles (so 18 dies in total). Defender has 2 interceptors without any hull and with one cannon each (not antimatter, not splittable), so any single missile hit would destroy one of them. Lets say attacker rolls 12 successful hits with his missiles.
So all 12 missiles are flying towards poor interceptors or only 2 of them are assigned to them (1 to each) and other 10 just drifts of in space??? Or can he assign 6 missiles to each interceptor even if it is possible to kill them even with a single missile and other 5 are not needed??? Defender rolls 2 successful hits (both his interceptor cannons hits). So which variant is true???:

A: Each interceptor hits with his cannon one missile assigned to it and survive because for some retarded reason only 2 out of 12 missiles were coming to the interceptors and other 10 just idiotically flying around in space.

B: Interceptors hit and destroy only 2 missiles out of 12 that were successfully locked on to them and remaining 10 just come and wipe them out in a huge OVERKILL like it would be in the real logical world.
