Sunday afternoon was our first eclipse + expansion game.6 players :
- Hegemony, tibo
- [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Magellan[/BGCOLOR], PM
- [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Mechanema[/BGCOLOR], JM
- Planta, massimo
- Rho syndicate, me
- Magellan, seb
We play with the technology variant, turn order variant, ancient dreadnought, and alliances.
During turn 1, I was fucked by the Planta who explore his hex I and mine hex II without any connection. And I make a mistake : I have forgotten to connect with the center.
So, turn 2, I run to the Magellan, meet the Hegemony here. We decided to make an alliance and exterminate the Magellan. Unfortunately, we are unable to take his last hex defended by 4 bases ( He can build 2 each turn with his cheated conversion power).
In response, Planta, [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Magellan[/BGCOLOR] and [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Mechanema[/BGCOLOR] created the turtle alliance with more than the half of the galaxy.
The [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Magellan[/BGCOLOR] discovered hyper-jump drive menacing the Hegemony frontier so we can't make raids.
The ancient dreadnought was very powerful and the [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Magellan[/BGCOLOR] take it a turn 7. I lost 4 cruiser and 1 interceptor in the battle with the 4 Magellan bases (The luck is away ...), abandoning my empire without defences.
Turn 8, the Planta tried to steal some of my systems with his wormhole generator. I thought the game was over, but try to fight.
Turn 9, the turtle alliance, assured of the victory, attacked some of our hexs. While I occupied our opponents, Hegemony who have passed the first researched cloaking shied and wormhole generator.
It was the beginning of the end. I played like a cat with a mouse and exterminated 15 VP from Planta and [BGCOLOR=#CBCBCB]Magellan[/BGCOLOR]. In the same time,I defended our systems.
After 7 hours of my best play of eclipse,

Conclusion
New races are great.
- Magellan are very powerful and adaptable.
- Rho syndicate is fun to play. More powerful ship and great move but less colony ship (important in the first turns) and
-Alliances is the best news of the expansion. The game become more and more strategic with diplomacy, betrayals ( a least try ) and more thematic play.
- With ancient dreadnought, the centre is more difficult to catch so it
promote turtle play.
- New discovery are great especially hyper-jump drive and ancient orbitals
- With all this new stuff, the game is more longer but I think I will be shorter after 2 or 3 plays.
A great game which become better and better
