Game end is the same. If you're finding it boring, why not try to disrupt one of your fellow player's plans a turn early? Sounds like groupthink to me. All it takes is one or two people to really jump the gun and cause some chaos.
I agree, I think it is groupthink. After 20 or so plays, rarely do our games end with a big pileup like they did in the first games. You need to make your move sooner, or you're just leaving things to chance.
Groupthink, yes. But a lot of groups think that way in their first games. With more experiences, more early battles occur and less build up...
Oh i can't express in words how much i want it to be true, though we had been playing once or twice each week for 4 months now, usually 4 players, sometimes 5 or 6. And always the man that tries something first ends up being the biggest loser and the one who makes his move last is the winer. It would work if more than 50% of players (like 3 out of 4) would do that, but otherwise it simply don't work. In our games all players usually are on very equal strengths so its like 50% chance that your crazy shenanigans gonna succeed. And always when you start something with one player you both go down, because you give others more room to spend actions on building their strength, while you waist your's on ship movements. And the one who evades all fighting and spends time on building up and buing monolith on very last turn wins while others tear each other apart. Also we changed Traitor Card to -4 VP penalty. -2 was simply irrelevant in our backstabbing and monolith stealing company :D (We are very used to Game of Thrones game)
(P.S. completely of topic, how the hell you board game geekers allow "Game of Thrones" to be so low on ratings? You really think that "El Grande" or "Chaos of the Old World" are better and more mentally challenging games???)
